Workout options, open gyms in Federal… – Federal Way Mirror

At-home workouts and long walks while masked up have been the usual workout routines for many during the time of coronavirus. As Gov. Jay Inslee’s restrictions have eased up, several gyms throughout the Federal Way area have reopened, allowing visitors to stay safe while working up a sweat.

Federal Way Curves, an all-women gym, recently moved to a new location at 32020 1st Ave. S. Franchiser Sharon Gentry said Curves is a place in town for women to feel safe, get strong and learn how to take care of themselves physically, mentally and emotionally.

Gentry, going into her sixth year as franchise operator, said working in the health and fitness industry “feels like saving lives.”

At the new, larger location, Curves is now scheduling five clients every half hour in order to meet distancing and health guidelines. The room’s setup of workout equipment allows for about 8.5 feet of distancing, and additional hand washing procedures and machine wipe-downs have been implemented.

While masks are optional during the physical activity, Curves Federal Way is offering a masks-only workout at 10:30 a.m. daily.

Federal Way Community Center reopened on Sept. 1. Available amenities include the lap pool, leisure pool (lessons and water fitness/walking only), gymnasium, group fitness classes, exercise/fitness area, track, pickleball, youth sports classes and more.

Health guidelines for most facilities include wearing a mask upon entering and exiting the building and while traveling throughout the facility. Additional guidelines may vary from gym to gym, but you can stay prepared by bringing your own filled water bottle, sweat towel and other small necessities.
