Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall earns

‘Great Place to Work’ designation

CORNWALL/NEWBURGH – Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC) announced that it is Great Place to Work-Certified™ for the fourth consecutive year. Using validated employee feedback gathered with rigorous, data-driven, “For All methodology”, survey results revealed that 91 percent of MSLC employees feel the organization is a Great Place to Work, which is a 4% increase from last year’s results. Of this percentage, 67 percent of those surveyed were front line employees.

MSLC is one of only 13 hospitals in the nation to achieve this designation, joining the likes of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Hackensack Meridian Health, and Baylor Scott & White Health.

MSLC is dedicated to providing a workplace that is inclusive of all. An overwhelming 95 percent of respondents indicated that they feel good about the manner in which their work contributes to the community. Additionally, 94 percent of employees said that their work has a special meaning, leaving them with a sense of pride.

MSLC was invited to participate in this exclusive survey in 2017, and since that time, the hospital has seen a steady increase in employee satisfaction and engagement ratings as evidenced in this survey. MSLC is also ranked among Fortune’s Top 40 Best Workplaces in Healthcare & Biopharma for 2020. Additionally, the hospital has been named in the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation for Clinical Excellence according to a national report by Healthgrades

Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall

achieves Magnet recognition

NEWBURGH/CORNWALL — Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall achieved Magnet designation on Sept. 15.  This is a direct reflection of nursing professionalism, teamwork and collaboration in patient care. The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence.

With this credential, Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall joins the global community of Magnet-recognized organizations. Only a small and select group of United States health care organizations have achieved Magnet recognition.

The Magnet Model provides a framework for nursing practice, research, and measurement of outcomes. Through this framework, ANCC evaluates applicants across a number of components and dimensions to gauge an organization’s nursing excellence.

Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence and is a factor when the public judges health care organizations. U.S. News & World Report’s annual showcase of “America’s Best Hospitals” includes Magnet designation in its ranking criteria for quality of inpatient care. The foundation of this model comprises various elements deemed essential to delivering superior patient care. These include the quality of nursing leadership and coordination and collaboration across specialties, as well as processes for measuring and improving the quality and delivery of care.
