Ever brushed your hair this morning and found one to many hair strands pulled out without you noticing? Or maybe you’ve already seen it down the drain while taking a shower, or on your pillow after you woke up in the morning. For many, hair fall is a common problem, and is usually caused by dry and frizzy hair. And while it’s easy to lose 50-100 strands a day (as new ones grow out), losing much more than that may be a sign of a more serious issue, one that needs to get checked out.
Of course, there are many reasons behind this. For one thing, factors like hormones and nutritional intake all contribute to hair fall in some way, as well as exposure to radiations, medications and even environmental toxicants.
In any case, here are some for those suffering from excessive hair loss:
Aloe Vera
Long been touted as a natural remedy for hair loss, it’s no wonder that many shampoo products have aloe vera in their formula. As a remedy, aloe vera helps clean up sebum, which then unclogs follicles and makes hair grow back.
Fish Oil
Fish oil as a remedy promotes the growth of dermal papilla cells, which reside under hair follicles and influence its development from the epidermis. This results in hair growth. Its omega-3 can also help make hair dense.
Coconut Oil
Another popular home remedy, coconut has lauric acid, which penetrates the hair shaft and stops its root and strand from breaking.
Ginseng
According to studies, ginseng can help promote hair growth by stimulating the dermal papilla cells to make new hair follicles. Furthermore, it’s also known to help make the hair growing phase much longer than it usually is.
Liquorice
More commonly known as mulethi, studies have shown that powdered liquorice that’s made into paste can be formulated into a herbal shampoo. Simply add sodium lauryl ether sulphate, sodium chloride, methylparaben and a few other ingredients into the mixture, and you got yourself a homemade shampoo that’s shown to provide excellent hair cleaning, which stops bacteria from ruining your hair.
Chemotherapy is known for its side effect that causes alopecia or hair loss in patients, which can be permanent and affect an individual’s quality of life. Pixabay
