Nittany Greyhounds to meet Sunday

STATE COLLEGE — The Nittany Greyhounds Meet & Greet will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Petco, 40 Colonnade Way.

The event is held on the fourth Sunday of each month.

The group will have greyhounds to interact with, including adoptable retired racing greyhounds, and an information table.

Seniors can bowl for free Thursdays

MARTINSBURG — Thanks to a grant from the Nason Foundation, area senior citizens ages 59 and older can bowl for free from noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays through April 30 at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park.

GACTC to hold open house Thursday

The Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center (GACTC) will hold an open house from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday to introduce potential students to more than 30 programs available for adult and high school learners.

High school students and their parents or guardians, adults interested in career training, and members of the community who want to know more about what GACTC has to offer are invited to attend.

During the open house, guided tours of the GACTC facility will be offered, and guidance and career counselors and instructors will be on hand to answer questions.

High school students and their parents or guardians will learn about the programs offered, all of which are available as part of a high school degree. Other topics covered include industry certifications students can earn, and how GACTC credits transfer to other institutions of higher education.

Those interested in adult education will have the opportunity to explore various programs and career options, as well as learn about financial aid programs, including Veteran’s benefits and federal and state student aid.
